PRESS/MEDIA
Club Millennial Founder, Mikka Onita has established herself as a subject matter expert on the power of social media and using it responsibly. Onita has well over a decade of experience in the public arena covering current events and conducting workshops through the New York City Department of Education and various youth organizations. This experience has given her a well- rounded view of the services provided in schools. From this knowledge, she has formulated a series of workshops to help educators provide necessary information and skills to students which many times are not traditionally offered in the classroom, but are pertinent to achieve success when navigating the world of social media. As a speaker, educator and journalist, who is passionate about social media education, Onita also works as the Coordinator for the Bronx Community College Science Technology Entry Program. One of her proudest moments was coaching her students to a first-place prize, in 2015, at the New York State STEP competition. The project, #HashtagsForJustice explored the role social media played in anti-violence police protests. In 2017, her students won again, taking second place for their project, Emojiverse. It explored whether emoji is a universal language. She is on a mission to continue educating the public about using social media responsibly, by providing training to schools, companies and organizations.
